These days, it seems like the First Amendment is either put under strain, or blamed for an outlandish comment made by a public figure. What does the First Amendment really protect? How can we know what is or isn’t a right to Freedom of Speech?
Happening Tuesday, October 24 at 2- 3:30 p.m. at the North Gym 118, there will be a First Amendment and Freedom of Speech Forum open to students and staff alike.
Co-sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., the Academic Senate, and the Office of the Provost, the concepts of civility, peaceful protest, responsibility, and current affairs will be discussed with President Castro, Fresno State Faculty, and student leaders.
President Castro will give opening remarks, followed by discussion with the panel members: Department of Political Science Chair Professor Thomas Holyoke, Professor Andrew Fiala, Professor Diane Blair, and President of ASI, Blake Zante.
Light refreshments will be provided, along with a Q&A section with the panel and audience members.
