Whether you’re married or just started dating someone new, domestic violence can happen to anyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the Cross Cultural and Gender Center is hosting an event to take a stand against domestic violence and raise awareness of ways students can help.
Thursday, October 19 is Purple Thursday, a day to stand up against domestic violence and stand with victims. Stop by the Speaker’s Platform in front of the library from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and snap a selfie with others wearing purple.
The CCGC is committed to maintaining a safe learning, living, and working environment where sexual violence, relationship violence, stalking and harassment are impermissible and healthy, respectful behavior represents the campus norm. If you or someone you know is experiencing any kind of abuse or domestic violence, please contact the Cross Cultural and Gender Center at 559.278.4435. Confidential Reporting and Advocating Services are available to students.
