SCIENCE & MATH
Kevin Ngo: I am excited to have the opportunity to continue serving you. As a past student representative on the College of Science and Mathematics Dean’s Council and current President of the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers, I have the experience and initiative necessary to be the voice of our college. I have collaborated with student leaders, faculty, and administration to ensure that our university continues to flourish. I am dedicated to increasing research funding, strengthening student leadership programs, and providing all students an equal opportunity to succeed. My ultimate goal is to provide the means for our community to live well. I hope I have your support in this campaign, let’s thrive together!
Miguel A. Bueno: Hello Bulldogs! My name is Miguel Bueno and I am running to be your Senator for the College of Science and Mathematics. We’ve seen some great changes on campus lately but I know we can achieve more! As your senator I will work closely with administration to ensure all of our student’s needs are being addressed. My platform is simple and specific. I will: 1) Encourage our college to allocate more areas for tutoring, study rooms and lounges. 2) Create more opportunities for networking and collaboration across disciplines. 3) Cultivate greater collaboration between the College of Science and Mathematics and local entities such as Bitwise Industries. Our college fosters tomorrow’s, researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs. It is the embodiment of Fresno State’s mantra: Discovery. Diversity. Distinction. With your support and your vote, I know we can accomplish great things. Thank you and as always Go Dogs!
Lance Rodriguez: With recent matters in politics, it is important now more than ever to stand up for our environment. My name is Lance Rodriguez and I am a junior majoring in geology. If elected, I plan to address environmental issues on campus starting with reducing our ecological footprint. The goal is to create opportunities for those passionate for nature to get involved, regardless of their major. As outreach coordinator for the Sustainability Club and having spent a summer in Monterey conducting research at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, I am confident and prepared to take on the tasks as a senator and to support my decisions with well-researched data. I am an advocate for nature, a friend to all, and in hopes a senator whose voice will soon represent the people.
CRAIG SCHOOL of BUSINESS
Mario Vargas: My name is Mario Vargas and I am running for senator position for the CSB. One of my main objectives is to bring far more attention and involvement to ASI. In my opinion, students lack awareness and participation in ASI. In order to have good results for the Craig school of business, I am determined to inform business students on issues and options that will benefit their interests. Another objective I will hope to achieve is to expand and help diversify ASI by informing students.
JORDAN COLLEGE of AG
Amanda Smith: Hello my name is Amanda Smith and I would like to serve as your senator for the Jordan College of Agricultural Sciences and Technology. I am a junior studying Culinology and am involved with various clubs and organizations on campus. As your representative, I vow to communicate concerns of us, agricultural students, to both the faculty of JCAST and the university administration. A few of my main concerns in our college are the shortage of qualified professors, availability of classes, and our overall experience in the college. With my experience as a leader on campus and my relationship with many of you I believe we can plow the concerns head on. Together we can work to harvest a better education for all.
HEALTH & HUMAN RESOURCES

KREMEN SCHOOL of BUSINESS
Chase R. Viramontes: As a first generation college student, I have had the privilege of attending Fresno State and working alongside with future teachers as a Teaching Fellows scholarship recipient. In my past three years at Fresno State, I have been able to start a club for Teaching Fellows while building a mentorship program for freshmen Teaching Fellows scholarship recipients. Working with ASI on the GE Committee has also given me the ability to advocate for better course offerings and additional course sections for Liberal Studies students. As your senator, I will work to strengthen the relationship between students and advisors and create more opportunities early on for credential advising, while simultaneously helping you feel more confident in your collegiate career. The Kremen School of Education and Teaching Fellows Foundation have given me many opportunities and I would love to have the chance to give back to them and to you. Go Dogs!
LYLES COLLEGE of ENGINEERING
Elias J. Karam: Hello fellow Bulldogs! My name is Elias Karam and I hope to be your future ASI Senator for the Lyles College of Engineering. I’m an electrical engineering major here at Fresno State and, as a senator, I’ll do my best to represent our college and all the different disciplines within it. Through continuous contact with the dean and more importantly the students, I will relay any concerns that the students have to the appropriate people and committees. One of the biggest problems facing all engineers that I hope to address during my term is limited class sections. With many of us involved in extra-curricular activities and/or work, offering one section of an important class simply isn’t enough. Engineering is hard enough as it is, so I’ll do my best to alleviate the stress as much as possible on my end. Thank you and Go Dogs!
