Fresno State will honor one of its coaching legends – Jerry Tarkanian – on March 1 at 7:05 p.m. at the Save Mart Center, and the Red Wave can redeem up to four free tickets for the game while supplies last. The ticket voucher can be printed online at www.GoBulldogs.com and must be returned to the Save Mart Center Box Office in person for access to the tickets.
The return of the Bulldog legend will take place when the Fresno State men’s basketball team plays its final regular season home game – hosting the sixth-ranked San Diego State Aztecs before a national television audience on CBS Sports Network. The first 3,000 fans will get a special limited edition Tark Towel with 1,000 more given away throughout the game.
During the evening, Fresno State will retire Tarkanian’s jersey and also host an alumni game and ceremony for the Bulldogs’ two seniors – Tyler Johnson and Allen Huddleston.
Tarkanian, who was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September, played at Fresno State from 1954-55 and later coached for the Bulldogs from 1995-02.
“Jerry Tarkanian is one of the true legends in the coaching profession,” current Fresno State head men’s basketball coach Rodney Terry said. “He has been successful at so many different levels in college basketball and his induction to the Hall of Fame is yet another accomplishment in Coach Tarkanian’s illustrious career.”
