Alternative Spring Break 2024
The Richter Center is recruiting student volunteers to serve on one of our three Alternative Spring Break teams. The first team will be working with Scout Island on projects such as habitat maintenance and invasive species removal along the banks of the San Joaquin River. The second team will partner with Stone Soup to lead a STEAM camp and host a Fresno State Outreach Day for community children and families. The third team will be working with Poverello House on packaging grocery meal bags, meal prep, and serving the homeless population in Fresno.
All candidates must submit an application and participate in an interview in order to be considered.

Fresno State Blood Drive
Donate blood during our February Blood Drive! Just one blood donation has the potential to save three lives. The Central Valley is in critical need of blood donations, so we need you now more than ever!

Donation Tips:
- Drink lots of water and eat an iron-rich meal before donating.
- Bring a photo ID when you come to donate.
- Some people like to bring a book or headphones while they donate – so feel free to bring something to pass the time!
- Set aside an hour for your donation – 30-45 minutes for your physical, iron check, and other paperwork, and 15 minutes for the actual blood donation.

Sistah-To-Sistah’s “Natural Hair Night,”
5 to 7 p.m. at the Resnick Student Union, Room 206. Black Student Success Initiative is hosting an event that provides a safe space for Black and Brown women on campus. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend and have deep discussions in a welcoming, safe environment. In Black culture, our hair holds deep significance. Sierra Odyssey movie premiere
“Sierra Odyssey,” a documentary that chronicles the inspiring journey of local photographer and mountaineer Orland Bartholomew, premieres at 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 9, at the Peter’s Education Center Auditorium, next to the Save Mart Center. Please RSVP here.
The film sheds light on Bartholomew’s extraordinary feat – the first winter expedition of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in 1928-29. The monumental achievement in the annals of mountaineering is brought to life through this documentary, offering viewers a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of this historic endeavor.
The documentary was written and directed by Professor Candace Egan, produced by Phil Bartholomew and edited by students in Fresno State’s MCJ Multimedia Production Service. The film celebrates the legacy of Orland Bartholomew while showcasing the talent, hard work and collaboration of Fresno State’s faculty, staff and students.

Contemporary Dance Ensemble
Who: Kenneth Balint, Artistic Director
What: This year’s program, “Extrapolations 2024” features the choreography of Kenneth Balint, Collin Bresenio, Bella Dreizler, Alicia Longoria, Kathy Luo, Robert Moses and Chafin Seymore. The student dance members of the Contemporary Dance Ensemble present a captivating showcase comprising seven distinct repertory dance works, thoughtfully choreographed by a blend of seasoned dance artists, esteemed faculty, and innovative student choreographers. Explore themes ranging from the intricacies of life and the intensity of passion to the dynamics of human relationships, the experience of ostracization, the thrill of improvisation, and the sheer joy of physical movement.

Kids Day
Registration is now open for Kids Day 2024!
We’re so excited for the return of the Kids Day newspaper! From its humble beginnings back in 1988, Kids Day volunteers will once again dawn their bright orange aprons with newspapers in hand to help raise critical funds for Valley Children’s Hospital.
Special edition Kids Day newspapers are available for volunteers to “sell” on campus or city sidewalks in exchange for a donation to Valley Children’s Hospital. The suggested donation for each newspaper is $2. Registration is now available online. Please click HERE to sign your group up. Be sure to select “Site G – Fresno – Fresno State – Resnick Student Union” as your distribution site if you are wanting to pick up your supplies on campus!
