Examines gender and sexuality through William Shakespeare.
Don’t miss Fresno State University Theatre’s third virtual production of the 2020 -2021 mainstage season, “To Thine Own Self Be True: Gender, Sexuality, and the Bard” written by William Shakespeare, conceived and directed by Brad Myers. The production, which was filmed in the John Wright Theatre will stream online.
The production was rehearsed and filmed following strict Federal, State, and University protocols to ensure a safe, clean, and socially-distant production environment.
The production will explore modern-day LGBTQ perspectives and confront gender stereotypes through a re-imagining of Shakespearean scenes, monologues, and sonnets. Their portrayals will include famous love scenes played by same-sex couples; gender reversals in Julius Caesar, a non-binary Cleopatra; and more.
February 19 – 20 and February 23 – 27 performances stream at 7:30 p.m. PST and February 21 performance streams at 2:00p.m. PST
General Admission streaming access is $15 General Admission and $10 for students.
