ASI is hosting a youth supply drive in effort to increase resources for the children of the El Dorado Park community through Friday March 21, 2014. The supplies will be distributed on Saturday March 22, 2014 at the Richter Center’s “Spring into Service” Day event.
Staff, faculty, and students can donate school supplies, sports equipment, and family board games. Donations of colored pencils, crayons, highlighters, notebooks, basketballs, soccer balls, footballs, and family-friendly board games are highly encouraged.
Boxes can be found in Joyal Administration, Henry Madden Library, University Student Union and other various departments around campus. For more information on “Unity in the Community” locations, donation items, or on how to get involved, contact Ashleigh Rocker at (559) 278-7703 or at arocker@csufresno.edu
The El Dorado Park neighborhood is known as a vibrant and ethnically diverse community currently experiencing some of the highest rates of poverty in Fresno.
“All the supplies donated will be evenly distributed amongst community programs in the neighborhood including the Boys and Girls Club of El Dorado Park which boasts the largest club membership in the entire city of Fresno,” said Ashleigh Rocker, ASI Programs & Volunteer Coordinator.
