Humans in the Loop | Cineculture Film Screening
Humans in the Loop, by Indian director Aranya Sahay, tells the story of Geeta, an indigenous woman in India, who takes a job at a local data-labeling center—the crucial, human-driven backbone of Artificial Intelligence. Immersed in the work, she discovers an unexpected connection: AI, in its rawest form, is like a child—dependent, vulnerable, and in need of human guidance to learn to “walk, talk, and comprehend the world.” She pours her hope into this nascent technology, longing for AI to eventually “see the world through her eyes,” a validation she desperately craves from her own daughter in her personal life. This is a timely, human story that asks: Who gets to define the future of AI, and can a mother’s fight for inclusion change the world’s most powerful technology? In Hindi with English subtitles. 74 minutes.
