CAMPUS ANNOUNCEMENTS
Parent Scholars Receive Priority Registration
Students must self-certify by October 7, 2024 at 5 PM
Did you know that 1 in 5 undergraduates are student parents? Fresno State is committed to supporting Parent Scholars in their pursuit of education while juggling school, work, and parenting responsibilities.
Per Assembly Bill 281, priority registration is offered to our Parent Scholars. The legislation defines a student parent as “a student who has a child or children under 18 years of age who will receive more than half of their support from that student.” To receive priority 2 registration, Parent Scholars must log into their MyFresnoState Student Center, select “My Personal Information” and “Dependents” from the drop down menu, and then provide the youngest dependent’s date of birth where prompted. Students must self-certify by October 7, 2024 at 5 p.m. to receive priority registration for the Spring 2025 semester.
Once this process is completed, Parent Scholars will begin receiving communications on other ways our campus is here to support including campus and community resources, family-friendly events and activities, giveaways, etc.
For questions related to our Parent Scholar Initiative: email parentscholars@mail.fresnostate.edu.

Such activities are deemed essential for providing a quality educational program and constitute a vital and/or enhanced instructional experience for students.
To be eligible, activities must: (a) be discipline/departmentally based and sponsored, (b) be integral to course offerings, (c) be intensive, structured activities, (d) require active rather than passive student involvement, (e) engage students in performances, presentations, or competitions that demonstrate skills from participation in intensive class work.
